Depends on the definition of holiday.
For example, if you're defining 'holiday' as in taking a break for fun and relaxation then no - it would be more meaningful than that and has a purpose that connects to the person's beliefs. It's something they feel they have or need to do, rather than for general enjoyment.
However if the trip was taken using time off school or work, then it would probably be seen as a holiday in the eyes of the school/employer.

pilgrimages are more like a religious journey to feel closer to their god and have a stronger bond, thats what I was taught
