My current A2 Coursework covers a historical period of 100 years.
My question is:-
"To what extent can the destruction of Native American Culture and Civilisation be attributed to the policies of the United States Federal Government between 1831 and 1935?"
I am currently seeking supporting documentation and require two historians arguments or opinions that support my discussion.
My first argument being that the destruction of Native American culture and civilisation was due to the policies of the United States Federal Government, such as; The Indian Removal Act 1830, Trail of Tears 1838/9, Dawes Act 1887, the Indian Citizenship Act 1924, Indian Reorganization Act 1934.
However I am struggling to find any at the moment to support this argument.
My second argument, I am thinking something along the lines of that the destruction of Native American culture and civilisation was due to either the White Americans views of the Native Americans or the Native Americans themselves perhaps.
In order to figure out my second argument I need to find my historians first to ensure I have the evidence to back up my argument. Therefore, I require a historian to support each argument, thus opposing each other. I also require three sources to support my argument, primary and secondary. Does anyone know of any good websites/places to search for any? My library have zero books on this and the only ones they can order in aren't helpful.
I hope that this makes sense and that someone may be able to point me in the right direction, I would appreciate any input.
