    Hiya all,
I am currently in my second year of BTEC Applied science forensics, and should finish the year with an overall DDM. However, I am now unsure on whether I want to go into the criminology side, and why people commit crimes rather than the forensics side. Two of my units over the two years have been about criminal psychology, with me getting a merit and hopefully distinction in them. I enjoy both sides, but having wanted to do forensic science/ criminal investigation for the past few years, i don't know whether to pursue criminology at uni or go with forensic investigation. Any advice?

    Go to open days.

Look at the course structure for criminology and the modules.See what it covers and note courses will vary. Do the same for forensic courses.

I would then look at the jobs market and consider what careers you might be interested in.

That should put you in a better situation to make a judgement as to which you might enjoy and which one would help you in a future career.

Definitely think of the long term options of what job you can go into with each course. Get some work experience in the field. I studied Forensic Science and the job market is not what I thought it would be.
