Whenever you rearrange where the halogen is on the branch, you simply change the 1- to whatever #-.

But...

What happens when the halogen is on the branch itself??

E.g.

What would you call that?

So far, my best guess is: 3-bromomethylpentane...

You could have that or 1-bromo-2-ethylbutane
General rules are make the longest carbon chain possible i.e. pentane, or put the functional group on carbon 1 and label from there
