    Okay so I have a friend that is looking to go to university in 2019 or 2020. He is a British citizen with a British passport ECT. But has lived in Canada from the age of 7-18. He has lives in England for a year now and intends to stay here and go to uni. Does he apply for a student loan?

    Hi Devonjacques,

    Was he also born in the UK? He would need to prove that the time in Canada was temporary in nature.

    Evidence that could support the claim of it being temporary would be work visas from his parents, school documents to show he wasn't based their permanently.

    The list isn't exhaustive and whatever evidence they have to support the claim would be reviewed.

    He was born in Canada then came over here when he was about 2. His parents moved over there to for famoly reasons. Does that mean he can't get a loan?

    Hi devonjacques,

    He would not be eligible for the funding until he meets the residency requirements.
