I’m with hsbc and have nearly used my 500 up. I need an increase and was wondering if they’d let me increase it or if anyone had done this before.

They may, but it depends on your circumstances and how you have run your account. It helps if you have a job and have money going in.

I wouldn't count on it. Remember that an overdraft is supposed to only see you through until payday. If you're regularly using it, you're paying a lot of interest which is bad in the long run.

In my experience I've basically walked into the bank and said 'can you increase my student overdraft' and they've done it on the spot without asking questions. However I dunno if there's anything going on behind the scenes.
