I am in the process of choosing my A levels, and I'm pretty set on Maths, Politics and History. However, I have been told Politics will not be looked upon with great enthusiasm by universities. A teacher has even told me that a russel group university would absolutely not like it. I am possibly looking to study History and Politics at degree level and I have been told I should aim for Oxbridge. I feel there is the chance that I would not get as good a grade in another subject as I would in doing Politics. Is choosing Politics a mistake?

Nope its fine. Look at the entrance requirements for all the unis you are applying for. Imo your teachers are speaking rubbish.

print off the entry requirements or even e-mail the unis and when they say its ok, go back to your teacher and ask them if they know more than the uni.

Maths and History are both facilitating and looked upon well.
Politics for a politics degree is relevant, but not essential.
