well i'll give you a different estimate because i've never tried with a full tank:
Car type: Fiat Brava
Engine size: 1600 cc
Fuel type: Gasoline
Fuel Consumption:3 gallons/100 miles (a full tank would be about 13 gallons)
Miles: 430

Car type: Range Rover
Engine size: 3947cc V8
Fuel type: Petrol (of course!)
Miles: 210
Petrol Tank Capacity: 76 litres

Most I've ever got from a tank is around 270 miles, worst was about 150 miles (weekend offroading in Salisbury Plain!)

Surely this depends on the size of the fuel tank to actually get any meaningful information from it?

No idea. I've never filled it up and left it until the last minute to fill it up again.

But I used to be able to do a 140 mile journey on about £15 (when petrol was about 90p).

What?! No one else is allowed a Fiat Brava! Or, rather, I didn't think anyone else actually had one.

Except mine's the horrific, 1.4l, 12v one.

Car type: Land Rover Defender Pickup
Engine size: 2.5 Litre
Fuel type: Diesel, of course.
Tank Size: 55L.
Economy: Usually around 28mpg. Good runs are low 30's. I've had it down to 17....
Miles: Depends:

Open Back: Between 220 (town/short runs) and 370 (Steady motorway run)

With top covering picup: 170 - 280. It kills the economy. And makes it slower.

I don't think it's a bad car really - it had more boot space and was more roomy than most of my friend's cars, and it shares half the parts with puntos and the like, so parts aren't too expensive. And I think all the versions other than mine are a lot better, but mine had notoriously poor fuel consumption.

Edit:
Tank size: Apparently 45 Litres, but around £30 fills it up, so i assumed it was around a 30 litre tank
Car type: Vauxhall Vectra (V Reg)
Engine size: 2498cc, V6.
Fuel type: Petrol.
Miles: ~410 miles to ~55 litres (approx. 34mpg combined on average)

I've been recording my fuel consumption for almost a year now, so these figures are fairly accurate. The combined book figure for this car is 29mpg, so I'm happy with my returns.
