viewing "certain sites" when my parents are out...

Alright, i can't help this.
Whenever my parents are out for any amount of time i look at some sites i shouldn't, lets say.
I would like to know if anyone has any ways to stop this. This is a problem because it is seriously hindering my work and causing problem socially also.
Any help?

Bribe yourself, for example tell yourself you'll allow yourself 15 minutes on a naughty site but only if you've studied for an hour.

This way they will be a positive influence on your work. :biggrin:

I assume that this is a public PC otherwise you wouldn't have to wait until your parents were out. So how do you hide your activities from your parents?

Of course, you could just come clean to them and ask them to install a programme to stop you visiting these sites.

how is it causing a problem socially? i assume by that you mean you're turning down offers elsewhere to look at these sites.

I don't get what you mean by hindering your work, if you only go on them when your parents are out. Either your parents are always out, you've got a %%%%%%%%load of work or you wouldn't do it anyway!

ok its probably betteryour looking at porn when your parents are out rather than in...or that might be awkward

watching every now and then is fine but when its starting to hinder your social life, whenever you find yourself going to look at it, DONT! do things to distract yourself things that need done, go out with friends...get a gf?

Ha ha ha, I remember when I was 14 or 15, and didn't have my own computer... waiting for my parents to be out or waiting for them to have gone to bed so that I could download some porn (on a 56k modem connection, I must add) and bash one out. Those were the days! Nowt wrong with a bit of porn. I remember last year I noticed one day there was this random charge coming off my credit card every month... turns out I'd subscribed to some random porn site one night when I was really drunk, LOL.

Anyway... just remember to clear your internet history and cookies and mop up any spillages and you'll be fine.

And don't be silly, it's not a simple case of either he can or can't control his desires, people can train themselves not to give into urges you know... he says he can't control himself but of course he can, he just needs to find a method to help him.

People can train themselves, sure. But I don't think internal "bribery" ever works. If I'm doing work now in order to get a prize later, when I can get the prize now, there's no reason for me to work now.

Well, my dad has some i.t job and i think is suspicious.
My parents are dropping my brother at univeristy tomorrow, i reckon they'll be gone for about 5 hours.
I have **** loads of work to do, and i keep swearing to myself that i won't ,but i will.

Oh yeah and it is legal for me to view :smile:

OK, but not everyone is like you. It's not exactly an uncommon technique you know.. people use it when dieting and when they're trying to cut down drinking and all sorts (according to my dieting website :wink:

). I always do revision like that, it's makes it easier for me anyway (though I don't use porn as the bribe).

Always remember to cover your tracks. Delete history, AutoComplete forms, cookies, temporary internet files. Don't ever download anything if it's not your computer.
