I got a low C at AS level and at A2 got a pretty decent A. So it's definitely possible.
Resitting one or two exams is not bad. For example, what dragged my grade down as a U in D1. So I retook that. Most universities only care about the exams being taken over a two year period. If that criteria is fulfilled, then it's fine
