    The solution to a linear 2nd order DE alsways has two independent solutions s_1(x), s_2(x), and a linear combination of those solutions (i.e. As_1(x)+Bs_2(x) where A,B are real numbers) is the most general solution for the equation.

    So you have found the two independent solutions, but you need to form the correct combination of them to create the general solution.
