How important is height difference?

Ok, now this thread may seem silly, but there's a girl I work with who I really quite like, and think I kinda click with - we have some really good chats etc...

I'm only 5ft7 tall, and she's about the same. But, when she puts her heels on she's about 3-4 inches taller than me, which is rather annoying! Do you think she'll think she's too tall to go out with me?

Let's face it, if it happens, either she'd have to stop wearing the heels, or I'd have to start! Any opinions guys? Cheers! :smile:

Or you could decide that height doesn't matter if you like the girl. Just ask her out if you want, you might decide you don't mind, she might decide she likes you and wants to stop wearing heels when she's with you but you'll never know until you try.

I don't think height matters anyway. My boyfriend's shorter than me when I'm not wearing heels (which I never do so it's not quite the same problem).

I dont see why it should bother you - Katie Homles and Tom Cruise seem quite happy? I wouldnt even bother asking her if it matters, just ask her out and see what happens.

Slightly different though, it's usually custom for the guy to be taller than the girl, in my case she's the same height/marginally taller than me... :s-smilie:

I'm 5'9, and while I wouldn't dismiss someone just based on their height, it DOES make a difference if you try to kiss someone smaller than you. Also means they're less likely to be able to pick you up and so on (especially if like me you're not exactly size 0!) And I do feel silly in heels if I'm towering over someone. Not enough to make or break a relationship but it can be a factor in how much you're attracted to someone.

You don't want to hear this, but to me a height difference would put me off completely. But that means that I don't tend to go for guys smaller than me anyway, and I don't give them the impression I do, whereas you seem to think this girl is interested.

However, if a girl isn't put off from the offset (ie she seems to like you as things are now), then chances are she isn't bothered.

I have a friend who can't wear heels whenever her boyfriend is around. Its an unwritten rule apparently.
I, on the otherhand, shall love to see the wedding photos hahaha.

Yeah of course.

I was pointing out that people used to stare at us and maybe make jokes (I'm a paranoid bastard :p:

) but we didn't care because we used to like each other.

If you're not bothered by other people, I can't see how it would effect you. People are always going to find something to say about you. If its not height, it'll be something else :wink:

I mean by the fact he likes to talk to her, finds her interesting etc.. The stuff that counts.

Ask her about it sometime mate, best thing to do to get HER opinion on it.

I think it depends on the girl and how much she likes you. I dont think tis a problem in your head because soem girls only liek taller people - but you will neever know til you ask.

I think it depends entirely on the girl, but there isn't much of a difference in your heights. Height is important to me as I'm 6'2" in bare feet and just feel a bit like the BFG dating someone shorter than me!

hey the best thing to do is to find out if she feels the same way as you. no point in worrying about this if shes not interested in you.

and im sure if shes decent enough, either she wont mind her being taller or shed stop wearing heels. i know a guy whos about your height and his gf tries not to wear heels.
