It's passed for you now. Your first mistake was your choice of degree, your second mistake was leaving it this late.

Your only options now are to apply for the very rare Trainee Biomedical Scientist roles (~13 a year, 200 applicants per post) or, the more likely and more popular route, to work as a Band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant and hope that the laboratory will support you with your registration portfolio which will have to be completed outside of work. If the laboratory won't support you then you'll have to find one that will.

Simply because the route to HCPC registration is now painstaking for you and I've seen people in your situation take 5+ years post graduation to get their HCPC registration. Had you applied to BSc Healthcare Science (Life Science) you would have graduated with HCPC registration.

Wow. I have just graduated (in July) with a BSc (Hons) in biomedical science. I had no idea that healthcare science would get me right where i want to be.What a waste of time and money. Not even sure what to do with this degree abroad. Thanks for clarifying!

Seems like BMS is only good for Grad Med these days. Looks like a lot of universities are treating it like that nowadays, anyway.

Don't give up as Biomedical Science degrees are still the most common route hence why there's an opinion that it's a hard career to get into.

In regards to abroad, HCPC is only relevant to the UK
