    What do you mean no?
No, If you are going to pay 9k you might aswell go to the best.

Would you pay 300k for a Nissan when you can buy a bentley with the same amount?

If your answer is yes then you either haven't got the grades due to poor revision/certain circumstances or simply an idiot.

hey im currently doing crim n law BA. We had this discussion not too long ago at uni. It is possible but very hard. Its very hard to get into one of the five in’s and more times people who are at the top institutes or are have members in their families who are lords etc have better chances. U must have a 2:1 or first to apply for the bar as its v competitive
The Inns are not the problem. Getting a place on the BPTC is not that hard. It's getting a pupillage and consequently a tenancy which causes the bother.

What if you do your legal training to specialise to necome a barrister at a better university
The training to become a barrister (the BPTC) is not graded according to the name of the provider. They all cover the same basic stuff and are as hard (or easy) as each other. People often take a master's at a uni more prestigious than their undergrad; this kinda works.

    What do you mean unglamerous
Criminal has the worst pay across the bar. Often people are on the bare minimum £12,000 pupillage and are rushing to represent clients in magistrates' and the Crown Court for trivial offences such as battery or criminal damage. The clients are not great. The subject matter is not exactly demanding. The pay is a travesty.

That clearly struck a string for you. Truth hurts. I'll leave you with that analogy.

Good luck, I wish you the best.

But the issue here is not the car (degree) it’s the career. And getting to that career is like driving the car, rather than the car itself. And yes, it will probably be easier and more pleasant with the equivalent of a Bentley, but it doesn’t mean if you are able enough, have the right direction and the basic components, that you couldn’t get there in the equivalent of a Nissan. Plenty of Bentley drivers (well their equivalent) will crash/get lost along the way.

Of course, in their career a person can change everything if they can prove their skills to employers or start their own firm and build up a customer base.

But then again if you can start at the top why allow yourself to not?
