# A Level Maths - Dividing Polynomials watch

1. How would do:

(x^2 - x - 1) / x + 1

What is the answer and the remainder?
2. Use the long division method, I only learnt it myself so I can't explain too well.

Yes, it gets very confusing me as I learnt two methods and keep getting confused between them. Thanks!

As a rule of thumb, use long division if they ask for a remainder or of the factor doesn't work with the Factor theorum. Else just use coefficient comparison.
