    How hard would I need to revise to ensure I get the best grades assuming if I took the tests now I would average C-B?

    depends on your school, some have them quite early, others quite late.

    And we can't really say, it depends on your ability.

    Usually mocks for A-Level students are during January if not December. There was a poll on this on this website like a week ago :P

    I'd say start revising as early as possible. or at least Learn the content up until Christmas holidays, and then do past papers/ questions during then ( based on the topics you've already done)
    my mocks are in January straight from the holidays
    but it differs school to school
