That was the title, but he made me think there could be something, we had all these talks about trust, and he pulled away, left me with nothing, and thought I deserved a 'sounds perfect to me', when I called things out.

Sorry that this has happened as you clearly liked him quite a lot. Best thing to do it just write this one off and just move on. Given the distance is there a possibility he is with someone else? Or perhaps as he said you are just at different stages and you are after a level of commitment which his isn’t willing to or ready to offer yet.

Either way, delete his number and move on!

I got attached to him, because he behaved in ways that was almost a promise that he wanted something with me (at the beginning)

But he didn't even say that explicitly, we never even had a discussion about it, he just sort of shrugged off my concerns, he could have at least offered me an explanation

This is a sad truth of many time wasting men. They overload you with love and affection at the beginning and then just ghost you. Don’t get too disheartened by it, as there will be someone out there who will be able to genuinely offer you the commitment you want (and deserve!) but try and keep your guard up a bit more next time.

It's so very sad, because he was the one who talked about trust issues, and how I shouldn't not trust people unless they give you a reason to.

He was so affectionate towards me (until the very beginning), so I just don't understand why he would reply with such a hurtful comment.

I replied with a long chunk of text about what an ******* he is

But does that justify him treating me like that? After all these grand discourses about trust and getting to know me?

this wasn't justifying it, this was pointing out that men are garbage and you should treat them like it

The world would be a very ugly place if we all treated each other like that though
