As the title says. Currently Im studying ITMB at Loughborough uni but I feel like it is not the correct degree for a career in software development which I would like to get in as ITMB is more of a management degree than compsci. Im not sure if I should stay with ITMB or start over again from year 1 next year and do Compsci with management at Kings College London. Any help appreciated!!

Also I wanted to add that ITMB from next year will not be accredited anymore since the tech partnership is dissolving as the accrediting body from next year. Whereas the course at KCL is fully accredited by the BCS. Not sure if I should make much of this though.

    Hi dddd1

    Are you doing the BSc?
The reason I ask is the BSc course has partial accreditation while the MSci course has full accreditation for Chartered IT Professional status (CITP) from the BCS.

Also have you looked at the other Comp Sci courses? They might be more suited to you and do have different accreditations.

Best thing to do is have a chat with your personal tutor and talk it over with them - as it may be possible to transfer over if there is a better course for you.

If you don't get the options you want and feel that KCL would be better suited to you ad your long term goals, then at least you've exhausted the possibilities here before having to start over. Obviously we don't want to lose students, but you have to do what's right for you

Good luck with your decision and if you need any more help - let me know.

Thank you for a response, I am doing the BSc can you please explain what it means by partial accreditation and also do you think it's important to have accreditation specifically for ITMB?

    Hi dddd1

Partial accreditation will give you some exemptions from exams when joining the professional body.
I honestly don't know how important it is for a specific ITMB accreditation - I would think that if it's being dropped it's not that important - however don't take my word for it as it's just my opinion - you really need to talk to your personal tutor or course rep as they'll have all the latest relevant info.
Sorry if that's not much help - but it's a little bit specialist for me to answer properly and I don't want to mislead you.
