I am looking to get into a career in Cisco Networking; as advised by a friend.

What advice would anyone have for somebody who does not have any experience but is looking to learn CCNA?

At the moment, I am trying to study independently using textbooks, online videos, etc.

CCNA can be pretty expensive, material wise. Best bet is to try and learn as much online as you can. As for the labs itself, it'll have to come down to you probably joining a class to get some practical experience. If CCNA is definitely what you want then do it, but you could look at the CCENT too which is half of CCNA, then see for sure if that's what you want to do.
