Does anyone have any stories of becoming less depressed after changing uni course? Watch

    yes i know if I'm depressed I should seek professional help, not just change my course. and everyone is different but I'm curious as to others' experience with this.. did studying something you want to study result in fewer depressive episodes and breakdowns or were you same old same old i.e. exhibiting the same behaviour you were when you were studying something less appealing...?

    A guy I knew during undergrad swapped from ChemEng to Architecture and ended up loving it after hating 1st year. Also joining theatre and dance socs probably helped him.

    did he complete one year on the ChemEng course and then swap?

    Yeah. I couldn't tell you how he went about it though, because it was years ago and frankly, not really my business besides the surface details I knew from him.

    I felt a hell of a lot less depressed when I dropped out.

    3 years later and I am studying a totally different course, part time and commuting from home. I am a lot more stretched in terms of work and home commitments but I am a hell of a lot more happy now
