    Anon 'cos it's embarrassing.

Is it needy to want a girl in my life? I don't really care about the sexual part. That can be... fulfilled in other ways (though sex is great, it's not a primary concern right now for me).

I just want a connection with a girl that cares about me and I care about her. I want the more lovey-dovey parts of a relationship but I know it is weird to say that or admit it out loud.
I was in your situation and it's totally normal. I craved an emotional connection with a S.O. as well. How old are you?

It's perfectly normal. Most people want someone to share life with, there's nothing wrong with that. Others prefer solitude and that's okay too.

I do miss it, but have come to the realisation that while I may be generally happier and more ebullient when in a relationship, I'm also less susceptible to angst and misery outside of one. Consequently, my preference is for an initially low-maintenance arrangement, with the potential to evolve organically into something more profound should both parties will it; I'm pretty damned good at being single, and feel loath to jeopardise that (frankly, underrated) contentment by over-reaching unduly.

Nah, not really. It can become needy if you rely on that caring and that lovey-dovey stuff obviously but just wanting it abstractly isn't a problem. Depends how you define like caring and lovey dovey though - like a quick kiss in public is alright but I noticed you mentioned couples in public and unless you're very drunk there is no reason to be munching your partners face.

I like that side of it to be honest. Having girl burn me some cereal or fuss about something and all that, I like it. She told me not to go out the other week because she did the maths for me and pointed out I'd be broke - little things like that.

No men should be able to talk about their emotions and people should listen. Emotional isolation is seen as the reason why men aged 20-50 are most likely to die by suicide.

So no it's fine to want someone to talk to. To meet people try multiple hobbies or even just asking people in the street whats up? (obviously in a nice, non-threatening way). If that fails a dating site could work.

whats so wrong with 'lovey dovey', if someone is in love they have the right to show it if they want and its wrong to press youre ideas that its wrong to others.
