    Hi guys,
I am currently undertaking an EPQ (based on biological processes and the electron transport chain). I am currently researching my topic but I'm finding it extremely difficult to understand the processes beyond the A level syllabus and it's taking up a lot of my time when I could be revising for my A levels (chemistry, biology and maths) especially as I am in my second year of A Levels. I am just wondering is it worth spending more time on this project or shall I drop and and focus on my 3 A levels to get better grades?
I was questioning whether unis (particularly uni of Notts and Queen Mary) take EPQs into serious consideration.

You could change your EPQ topic for an easier topic. Doing EPQ, it can lower your entry requirements by one grade so it can be useful.

I finished my epq a month ago. I have found out via the websites of unis of my course and it has told me if they lower the grades or not for it. Otherwise I would email them. I found epq so much work! I think I would of preferred to focus on ALevels. But I'm happy I may be offered lower entry grades if i get an A in epq.

I think it might be too late to change the topic as the initial ideas deadline has gone and the first draft deadline may be approaching soon Also the course I want to apply for (Pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry) has a lower applicantslaces ratio compared to other courses and may also be available in clearing (if worse comes to worse) like it was last year.

I called Uni of Notts and the admissions tutor said that they don't take EPQs into account when they make offers but may use it to compare you to other applicants if they need to- My course (pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry) has a lower applicantslaces ratio so I'm considering whether it might be worth taking the risk of dropping EPQ- I'm finding it to be a lot of work too!
