    Hi,

I am self studying AS and possibly A level economics this year. I need a good text book/guide. Is the chunky year 1 and year 2 text books + the cgp guide a good start, or are the text books to big and convoluted to help?

Any other resources for the new spec?
    Thanks

It depends on the way you like to learn but in my own opinion, the textbooks are too over-complicated and convoluted to be of much use at A-Level. It's absolutely possible to write a textbook that's concise in it's delivery but I haven't found any at an A-Level standard that achieves that. Others may differ of course.

CGP guides in general have a good reputation but I wouldn't rely on them as your only learning material as their size forces them to skip stuff which may help you understand. They're really good for aiding recollection and condensing things down, but I would use other materials to supplement them. There's plenty of stuff online like tutor2u, econplusdal etc. which are decent primary material.
