Just looking for any help or advice, I no longer have a reference for my university application as I found out today that my college tutor has left the college and there is no way for me to get in contact with her.

She is pretty much my only hope as I've looked at other possible references but my school teachers who taught me have all left/retired now, and my previous managers have either been sacked or made redundant. Does anyone know if I go back to the college would they give me her personal email/phone number if I explain the situation, or do you think that they would email her on my behalf?? I seriously feel like the universe is against me right now haha

When did you leave college? If it was recently, and someone there knows you, they might be prepared to write your reference - you won't know unless you ask. The college will likely have the contact details of your ex-tutor, ask them to contact her on your behalf, or better yet, ask if you can get her email address.

Your UCAS referee can pretty much be anyone who isn't a relation or a friend. If you really cannot find anyone then contact the universities you're applying to, explain the situation and ask if you can submit an application without a reference. They will probably agree.

Thankyou for the reply! I left college in July this year, so I’m going to go back tomorrow and ask if they could contact her on my behalf or failing that i’ll go to student services and look at my other options

There must be a teacher who knows you since you only left in July. Like the other poster said, there is no harming in asking.

In terms of work, are there any colleagues you are in still in touch with? You can also ask for a reference from any extra-curricualars or volunteering you have done.

I only had one teacher in college so no others know me, I’ve just found out that there are a couple left in my old school though that could possibly do it for me.

My most recent manager might be able to, but I worked in a family run pub so I wasn’t sure if she would be able to or not
