I'm someone who cannot concentrate at all with any noise in the background that is legible, like TV or the radio. The only space I have to study is my kitchen table, and I can hear my parents watching the TV next door. I've tried asking them to turn it down but when it's quiet enough for me not to hear it, neither can they. I've tried listening to white sounds like binaural beats, instrumental music, none of it works for me. I've tried putting in earplugs, they just hurt, I've tried studying in another room, but I can't spread out my sheets. Anyone else have the same problems?? Please, what did you do to concentrate??

Earplugs shouldn't hurt. You're probably forcing them in or not inserting them correctly.

Very loud headphones. It's a little counter-intuitive but if I'm listening to either purely instrumental (mozart compilation ftw) or a playlist of songs that I've listened to hundreds of times before (that or one song on loop), it's very easy to block it out, and it happily cancels all distracting sounds. If instrumental isn't working for you I'd say try to find something that you can ignore easily and play that.

Get comfortable earphones if they hurt, also you should really get a study space like a bedroom with a desk. I’d strongly recommend studying in your room and if you don’t have a desk you could get one they can be quite cheap - around £40 - £50. Saw one on Argos for around £18.

I listen to songs I've listened to a lot so that I'm not concentrating too much on the words or music
