# Physics Car stopping distances watch

1. The frictional force on a vehicle travelling on a road is 0.6 x the vehicles weight. G = 9.81 ms-2. For a vehicle of mass 1200kg.
Show that the deceleration is 5.9ms-1
2. Weight = mass x gravity
= 1200kg x 9.81
=11,772 N

Frictional force = 0.6 x weight
=0.6 x 11772
=7063.2 N

Force = mass x acceleration
7063.2 = 1200 × acceleration
acceleration = 5.886
=5.9ms^-2
