Personal Statment

For a successful university personal statement, how much of it should focus on wider reading?
Depends on which course you are applying for. Since I applied for Philosophy, I mentioned a lot of the wider reading I had done, linking it to my science based A levels (philosophy of science and ethics books). I also discussed the independent work I had done as a separate paragraph after I had spoken about subjects but before I spoke about extra curricular, and it must have been enough as I have two offers and a Cambridge interview. Hopefully this should give you some guidance if you're applying for a humanity subject! Overall I mentioned four or five areas of wider reading and independent work outside lessons.
