I've built a few tools for calculating party activity over different time periods. Data was collected for:

Legislative output since last great repeal
Dates Covered: October 2014 - December 2017

As we can see, in TSR world the Labour party is the natural party of government. We can also see that UKIP are great at producing bills, but are usually terrible at getting them passed. The same is also true of the Libertarians, socialists and greens. This is not surprising as central ideas are more likely to gain cross-party support.

Comparing Labour to the conservatives in terms of activity is difficult due to the government bills, however, they are both very similar when governments are taken into account.

Legislative outputGovernment Bills: 92 | passed: 47 (51%)
UKIP Bills: 83 | passed: 14 (16%)
Conservative Bills: 54 | passed: 31 (57%)

In the last 7 days we have seen a dramatic drop in Conservative member activity, prehaps hinting that they are more active in their party forum preparing for the GE or perhaps indicating a problem for the future. The Top 10 is dominated by Liberal and Libertarian members, though Labour is not far behind in terms of total party posts, indicating that they have lots of members rather than a few highly active members.

This is some very interesting analysis. 2 things particularly surprise me: how many PMBs joecphillips has created and how many bills UKIP have created. I have to say though, the reduction in Government bills from 27 last term to just 12 this term is very disappointing indeed, a much lower drop than I had expected.

Its certainly well below the government average of 18 bills per term. In fairness though legislative output has been below average this term.

joecphillips is a one man party PMBs have a low pass rate but that's still a lot of debate generated

UKIP make lots of Bills, but of low quality generally. Take parliament XXIV. 12 bills produced, 0 passed.

They are all great and repeals don’t need to be long.

I’m just below the average on pmb pass rate and I have tackled some controversial topics

DayneD89 I’ve noticed one error on the hansard it says that this was withdrawn when it was sent to division, I don’t know if there are anymore like it.

Thank you for updating/creating the hansard though.

I do like the fact I’ve created more in the last 2 parliaments than the liberals have in 5

Thank you for updating/creating the hansard though
There will probably be a few like it. The TSR search function is aweful and the software does try Google if it can't get on by TSR search but I don't want to load too many pages. Im guessing it failed to find the thread in the division lobby. Thanks for letting me know, I'll see if it's a bug I can fix in the code and if not I'll update it manually.

Edit: tbf the liberals are regularly part of government so many gov bills will be from liberal members.

I think it might be because the 7 was missed on the date

That could be it. Bad formatting or typos play hell with the software. That formatting style where the word "a bill to" are on a different line to the rest of the description causes havoc for the lawFactory part of the Wikia program when it gets the description of each Act as well. I've also discovered that posts will only give you the posting date if either you are logged in (My scrapper doesn't log in) or if it's over a month ago so recent bills need dates doing manually which is frustrating.

As this data shows though, it makes playing with data a lot easier now though and itll be easier for the hansard to be kept up to date now

I don't think many members know about this version of hansard

Perhaps we can have this stickied in the forum? Rakas21

Np, I do have the advantage of being able to write code that does the hard work for me though

The laws wikia page is useful for writting bills as well and the new template has it looking really good.

Iirc you can't sticky external pages though and there is a sticky for the wikia page in general.

Will add more later when i get time however on the flip side to the Ukip example, i recall that around 2015 the Tories went something like more than a term without a bill failing in division.

Well done though.

The Mhoc wikia is stickied, it's just that nobody reads sticky's (otherwise i would not have to see so many poorly formatted bills). I'll edit the title to something more eyecatching.

Interesting. I'll pull out the old Hansard's and do a full test at some point, including repealed bills. Maybe do it month by month rather than just by parliament and graph it.

I can, though it will need to be done manually as there is no version of Hansard for motions. Actually though, if I can get the Wikia updater program accurate enough it might be worth creating a version of Hansard for things like motions, SoIs and budgets.

I'm not sure how up-to-date is is (not sure it has been updated at all in 2017) but there is a motions Hansard on the Wiki somewhere.

I'll update that over the weekend and put it up on the Wikia. The more we keep them updated on the Wikia the easier it will be to move it over again when the TSR wiki returns.

There is old Hansard for motions which we could transfer to the Wikia but it is quite out-of-date.

I've updated the OP with the data I've been posting in the GE predictions thread as it's better suited here. I've also organised the data in a better way.

I've updated the Motions Hansard on the Wikia so it is now up to date.

I'll put some data together at some point as well.
