Hi all
Just looking for some advice..
Some background - I graduated at 25 in 2015, wish i knew then what i knew now and i had just continued properly and graduated at 21, it could've been worse i guess. I spent a few years just effing about (in education system) and working a retail job i was in for almost 3 years, eventually got my sh*t together and went on to do uni. Ive got mediocre post GCSE grades (BTEC ICT pass) (French AS- C - im french)
I graduated with a 2:1 in business studies (yes.. 'business studies), i actually really enjoyed uni, i like studying, so really should've been a first but whatever. I was LUCKY to find myself a pretty decent insurance software job after university, where i was for about 18 months, i've now moved into an insurance role at another relatively well known insurance company
Ive been applying for graduate schemes though, and ive come up incredibly short - and i just want to ask, am i completely wasting my time in applying for the better ish grad schemes that are out there? Are there graduates out there, 25-30, without the best academic records that actually get onto graduate schemes that are worth mentioning?
Im not talking about the very very best, but the ones with salaries in the £22-26k range. Im not just knocking out application after application either, i am really catering my applications to each one that i apply to, and it feels like im taking hours on applications just to be told no - infact, i dont even read the whole email anymore when i see a response from them that starts with 'we have reviewed', i just go straight to the end and look for the part that says something along the lines of 'feel free to apply for more jobs with us and or good luck'
