How about Lakeside residence ? It looks good on photo.

Lakeside is quiet. Emphasis when you apply that you want a quiet place, to do lots of study.
And make sure you apply for accomodation before the deadline!

Why don't you try calling the JBS bonjour2? I heard that if you ask them nicely they might give you some ideas as to when you'll hear from them..

Anyway, have you checked out the other forum I gave you the link to? It makes me wonder whether Cam processes the applications in batch, and so far they've processed the ones up to first week of Jan. So ours, which may be included in the next batch, may only be announced late march or even april?

G'luck to the both of us. It's a good thing you at least have warwick

Hey absolute , I have just called up JBS about a min ago..... they told me that nothing can be done over their side as the programme is oversubscribed.all I could do is just to wait and wait... maybe till somewhere in April 08 ! :s-smilie: I guess I am going for WBS .

Reply 82

oh man...did they specifically mention that we have to wait till even april? or did you just guess that? that's a very very long wait indeed

anyway, you're making the right decision going to WBS  i hope u have a fun there! as for me, cam was the only place i applied to. till then, keeping my fingers crossed...

Hi Absolute , have u heard from Cambridge yet ?

Reply 85

hey there,

nope i haven't heard from them yet :frown: But for some reason, I have a feeling we would hear from them by 21st march. I saw a thread for previous year and a few people said they heard from cam on 20th march. Another thread this year also says a few people heard from them on 20th feb. So maybe there is some kind of pattern there? I mean, to announce a few offers/rejections every 20th of the month, or at least around that date? monthly notifications sounds reasonable to me...what do u think?

Reply 86

woa u r performing some technical analysis on trends ? jk ... 21March ? that's quite late...

Reply 87

bonjour...turns out it isn't 21st march..i just checked my self service account today and the status changed to "cancelled". The reason was "unable to offer a place" :frown:

hey absolute!
sorry to hear about the rejection, they suck but i do hope you are going to go ahead to apply to another school!
Its still not too late!
LSE was just at my uni last thursday trying to psycho us to apply!

LOL sana1234! hahaha we almost replied around the same time!

Reply 92

btw a shoutout to all the SIngaporeans, are you guys going for the warwick organised gathering on the 26th march?

Reply 93

Hey guys,

Thank you for the fast replies  surprisingly i am not so devastated with the news. More like a relief after such a long, long wait. I guess it's better to get a rejection and move on with life rather than to wait endlessly lol...

sana1234: I applied for the mphil in finance programme. Submitted my online application on 10th jan and documents reached them within a week after that. Hope you get a reply from mphil econ soon!

saranyachop: I am considering LSE too..so you're saying it's still not too late to go for it? Don't they have this rolling admission system there where most places are already filled up? Plus my GMAT is only 620 :frown: but I do have a good GPA with heaps of experience from school and internship experiences at major MNCs...

Reply 94

I guess if you dont apply you would never know.
though it is true that MOST places might be gone, if they think you are what they want, then you should still stand a chance! i just hope it works out for you the way you want!

Don't fret my friend... there are many other Good UK universities you can try ... for me my status is still applicant .. but guess I am most prob gona accompany u in this case ... my application is most prob waiting for its turn to be ousted .. haha.

LSE MSc Finance availibility is limited already... u can try other unis? Like Imperial , Warwick , MBS ?

I'm starting to feel like to applying to Imperial now. Do you know how competitive it is compared to the mphil finance at cambridge? I read from the website that they usually offer 130 places (out of about 1000+ application) so if that's the case I guess it's not as competitive? Also, how did you know the LSE MSc Finance available is already limited whereas the Imperial Msc Finance is not?

well 130/1000 looks like an unconditional 13% chance to me. Still not great odds.

Apply in parallel (i.e. >1 uni at once)
e.g. to Warwick as well.

All The Best

p.s. I expect Warwick still have places as it is currently March not June:

Thanks Paulwhy for the fast reply! I guess 13% chance isn't a lot..but compared to cambridge (which says it gives out only about 50 offers per year) I hope I stand a higher chance. As for warwick, I don't know why, for some reason, employers in my country value the name Imperial more than Warwick..from an international viewpoint, how is Warwick compared Imperial ?
