So I'm currently a second year student about to finish the 1st semester of the year. The history department at my university have been telling us we should start considering what topic we want to write about for our dissertation as we have to write a research proposal next semester. However, my issue is I have too many ideas. I know I want to either look at some form of leadership (e.g. monarch, government) or possibly the social side of history which I can link to leadership. My main issue is which time period, I'm thinking either:

The Tudors
The Victorian era
Nazi Germany/WW2

If someone could help me figure out a potential idea that would be great

What about communist Russia? Especially the period after Brezhnev ? Perhaps you could contrast it with Tsarist Russia as well?

Who knows...when it comes to leadership, for me at least, almost every part of history interests me.
