Phobias

Hi, I have been struggling with a phobia of insects for several years. It started off fine, but in the last two years it has gotten ridiculous. I have small panic attacks, my breathing goes really shallow and my chest always hurts when ever an insect gets close to me and not to mention the massive amount of tears. It has gotten way too out of hand and is inconvenient, plus, next year when I am going to uni, I am worried that it will have an effect on me there. What if my room has a lot of bugs in it? What am I to do then?

So basically I am wondering what kind of help should I get? Can I go to the GP about this or is there someone else I should go to?
Go to your GP first and he/she will probably then be able to refer you to a psychologist.

Thanks! I'll go and do that soon then
CBT is probably the most effective type of counselling for phobias
