Does anyone know the most effective way to learn all the dates for Anglo-Saxon and Norman England, and British America because I'm struggling to learn them for my pre-public exams in a couple of weeks.

I am doing history for my gcse and yes I’m in year 9 but I have already started to try and revise, one of the main things which has helped me for my tests so far is flash cards because on one side I write like ‘the start of he Vietnam war’ and then the other side would be the date so I would keep going over them

If you have any other helpful tips please tell me

Thank you. I'll try that because I find it hard when I have lots of different events happening in the space of 28 years, I find it hard to revise using timelines when lots of them are so close together within the same month

I did the Anglo-Saxons at A-level. What I did was to get out a piece of lined paper and write the year and then a couple of words about it on each line, so....

1035: Canute dies
1042: Edward becomes king.....

For years where a lot happened I would split it into months so for 1066 I did:

May: Tostig attack vanquished
September: Normans and Vikings land.....

I did a similar thing for US civil rights but because it was more about social progression and regression I did 2 separate date sheets with one covering dates when their rights were improved and the other when they were reduced.
