Zimbabwe ruling party sacks Robert Mugabe

Zanu-PF is in the process of sacking Robert Mugabe and replacing him with ex Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

What are your thoughts?

And he will likely be replaced by a different dictator.

From all reports, it won't be any kind of real progress for Zimbabwe if as expected they simply replace Mugabe with Mnangagwa. More a case of "greet the new boss, same as the old boss".

Mnangagwa was probably responsible for massacres in the past and he sounds a really thoroughly nasty individual.

I suspect the long-suffering ordinary people of Zimbabwe have another big dose of suffering ahead. It's a horrible tragedy that continues to unravel in slow motion.

Note that so far there is nothing in the news about recovering the billions in cash that the Mugabes have sequestered in Swiss banks and elsewhere. Perhaps Zanu PF has too many other leading people with their fingers in the till to admit that Mugabe ran the place like a gigantic sweet shop.
