Gotta love the whitewashing of history.

Is it a shock that it's a 33yo on a student forum? Nope.

Google, it’s a simple fact that it’s rife, especially in Asia and Africa

There are more slaves alive today than ever before, just as there are more firemen alive than ever before. It's population increase that's the driving factor here, though the evils of modern slavery should still not be underestimated.

Are you saying this is larger than the Slave Trade Triangle?
Where European sailors went to Africa, captured native people, took them to America and got them to work on a farm to harvest sugar and coffee, so that the sailors could take them to Europe to use and sell for high prices

That is not, in general, what happened. The capturing and enslaving was generally performed by African natives on other African natives. The Europeans then bought them (thus making some African natives richer) and took them over the Atlantic. The whole thing was, obviously, horrible, but let's be accurate.

I believe that in the case of the Islamic slave trade the enslavement was carried out by the Arabs. But modern Moslems will tell you that was OK because it was a very special kind of slavery - very cuddly and not at all nasty.

Soros, Merkel et al. won't loose any sleep over it, dw :yy:

Neither will Hillary Clinton, even though she should since she was heavily involved in the Libya crisis and the toppling of Gaddafi.
