What does this person think of me?

This is a friend (nothing more) who I used to go to school with - we were in the same class.

They said:

'I know we didn't really speak much but I've always admired you'

- and -

'I've always thought you were lovely'

What practically does this mean that they thought/think of me? I'm terrible at interpreting the practical meaning of things like this.

How common is it to 'always admiresomeone' and what does it mean/is it a nice or special thing to say? Should I feel honoured that someone said that to me?

They like you and admire you. It's all positive. It's a nice thing what she said
