Horrible Lnat Experience

I JUST HAD AN EXTREMELY HORRIBLE LNAT EXPERIENCE AND I REALLY HOPE NO ONE HAS TO GO THROUGH THE SAME CRAP AS ME.

Just a day ago i sat for my lnat..i was "into" the mood and my concentration level was at optimum level (dont ask me how i know..i just know  ). The first few question was a breeze, and i felt extremely comfortable and confident after easing my way through them.

then when i came to the 4th question, the computer hanged, the programme crashed, and i was ushered outside the room.

i sat and waited..with a nagging sense of confusion and irritation. I was doing so well, and this interruption did not amuse me in any way. After a while, to my consternation, I was told that there was a technical difficulty and I had to reschedule my lnat examination!!!i was like WTF!!!

i felt like sh** because it totally affected my mood and my morale. i was doing so well ago and now my morale is totally destroyed.
plus im serving my national service and it is extremely hard for me to get time off to come and sit for the test. it raelly screwed me up that day.

thats not all.i rescheduled my exam on the next day and when i arrived, the same **** happened again!!this time it is not so much the techinical fault that pissed me off as the stupid staffs who should have, in the first place, rang me up and advised me to choose any date since they obviously knew that the fault was still not remedied. So I went all the way there like an idiot (wasting yet another 14 bucks worth of cab fare), waited like an idiot, and look at the stupid computer like a fool. the staffs are so irresponsible, since they knew the same fault still persists they should have forewarned me instead of letting me take it again and then the same **** happens.

now they want me to reschedule my exam again. im pissed and upset but most of all im worried. the lnat deadline is arriving (15 jan) and what if the technical fault isnt repaired by then?what if i miss the stupid deadline?

i really pray and hope that no one has to go thru the same **** as me. im just friggin unfortunate. darn!hopefully by this weekend they get it all fixed.or esle im gona tear that place down!

well.not really. heh

Can't you book a test at another Test Centre? It must be the program or computers at that specific centre... I re-did my LNAT today (I had a horrid first experience too. I accidentally exited the test without completing the essay & finally got to re-sit today!) and the program worked fine for me.

You have until the 15th. Book it at another nearby centre. And ring them and check in advance if they have had these problems.

Was it just you who had problems with the test at this particular centre?

That is really awful & irresponsible of the staff.

Reply 4

shoot them. =D If it doesn't settle anything, you'll feel better!

Reply 5

yeah i agree. the whole experience is just awful.

Reply 6

yeah, but He's having a problem with the venue at which he's sitting the LNAT, how's John Gardner gonna help him with that, he only helped stick man when King's took in the wrong LNAT result.
OP: Are you taking the LNAT in Singapore?

Reply 7

hi guys thanks for the valuable advice

@dimdim_lee yes i am taking the LNAT in singapore.

@brightxburns thanks for your advice.but unfortunately in singapore there is only one test centre available (kinda sucky isnt it?), and this one and only test centre that caters to ALL the LNAT candidates in singapore is experiencing a major screw up with its lnat programme. geez.can it get any worst than this?

@solemn wanderer thanks dude. who is this john gardner? Is it really ok for me to pm him? is he truly in a position to help?

I have rescheduled my test to saturday but there is absolutely no guarantees from the test centre that the lnat will be up and running by then. what im worried is that it will yet be another futile trip. but the biggest worry is that they are unable to repair the fault by lnat deadline. What should i do next? I have to prepare for the worst case scenario and act fast. I have emailed pearson and also am prepared to ring them up (they are closed currently..its after office hours..). i have also emailed my lnat universities to explain my predicament. all this just in case it doesnt get repaired by the deadline.

don't worry too much. the LNAT unis will understand. good luck with everything!

Reply 9

haha thnx jkyng1..as always

im so damn unlucky

That's really rubbish. I don't know whether consumer rights are the same in Singapore, but I would suggest making a complaint and if they do not get you another test in time - do seek legal advice. You can probably get your taxi fare back off them if you make a compaint.

Reply 11

@Es* thanks alot. yes its really crap, and the taxi fare isnt my major concern. the real prob lies in the fact that the technical team has been slow in rectifying the problem, the staff has been irresponsible in handling the matter, and im afraid i cant meet the lnat deadline!! Im have contacted the lnat universities via email, and intend to phone lnat customer support later. i dont know what im gona do if the fault doesnt get solved, the deadline passes and i miss this admissions cycle.

on top of that, it has caused a dent in my morale. its hard to explain, but it has really affected my confidence..especially when the initial attempt (at the first few questions) was so comfortable. until it crashed.

Reply 12

Hey, sorry to hear bout that!

I think, pearson vue might also notify unis of the difficulties, but thankfully you e-mailed them too.

John Gardner was on of a few people who were instrumental in devising and running the LNAT, although I'd be unsure what he could do to help you. Having said that, it may be good to notify him anyways as he can help future takers. (Depends how altruistic you're feeling!)

Hopefully they will get the problemed fixed by the deadline, but equally hopefully the unis should be lenient nough to let you sit a little later if needs be.

DW about the dent in your confidence, it's understandable, but hopefully you'll find your groove again, if you found it before. Especially as LNAT isn't something you can 'prepare for' like other exams. Ifyoufound it okay for the first few questions then that's a good sign that you'll be on a good course!

Hope things resolve themselves!

wht are the lnat unis again? notts n kcl?

Reply 14

For Yonanz? Yeah

My friend had a similar experience with one of his tests...not LNAT..but there was a black out half way through. Another time during an SAT exam..half of the Math2 paper was missing. Thank god nothing happened during my test!

Reply 16

If you want to contact JG then perhaps a better way would be to contact him directly by email.

On the other hand, I would just look on the LNAT website and see if there were any contact details for people who would receive the complaint.

The faster you do things, the greater effect they will have. Can't leave it till too late.

Reply 17

any idea how i can contact JG ? i have been searching for ages but cant see to locate his email..

Reply 18

gd luck with everything from now onwards.

thnx alot dude..but i need more than mere luck now. :s-smilie:
