I think that maybe exactly the point, not to go high enough to prove anything.
I've read a lot of this flat-Earthers argumentation, and that was the final thing that has conviced me there is no argument so stupid and invalid that people would not believe, even in XXIst century, only if they are incompetent enough.

I appreciate taking the time to listen to the other side of an argument, but really????

The ISS is about 408km up, and they can't see the whole world

The guy is actually a genius. How many people out there can get someone else to pay for their own private rocket.

I really don't understand the hype about the whole flat earth thing. Sure - there are a bunch of people who believe dumb things - but who really cares? It comes across to me as very TSR and neckbeardy - just "look how smart I am because I know all about science. Science >>religion guys".

Although having said that, I'm pretty sure that most of the celebrity flat earth people are just looking for free publicity.

In and of itself, flat earthers are nothing more than an amusement, people to hear, poke fun at, and move on.

But the problem comes when the slippery slope starts taking hold.

People who show such a willing propensity to ignore evidence, decry facts and instead place their faith in fringe beliefs despite a raft of counter arguments are then also the types to ignore more serious information, like medical advice. Already we see thousands of children not getting inoculations against previously dead diseases, which are now making comebacks. Such a willing disregard for facts is very soon becoming a genuine threat to health.

At that point, it's something people should take very seriously.
