Is LSE as bad as everyone says?

I also applied to Oxford and was rejected, I have an offer from UCL and I’m still waiting for response from LSE. I’m extremely extroverted and very concerned about lack of social life at LSE (work hard play hard type) so if it really turns out to be that antisocial I’d be more than happy to socialise with you 😂

One is better than zero 😂Maybe there are more people with such concerns and it won’t be that bad? Government and Economics, you?

Yeah hopefully and straight econ
Academically it is exceptionally good.

Socially - at undergraduate level it is okay. It can be brilliant if that's what you make of it.

I've also applied to Gov and Econ. Did you get an offer and what are your predicted?

I’m still waiting for response, but in the mail about completing the initial assessment they said it takes up to 8 weeks. AAA in Maths, Econ and Geography, bc my educational background is complicated as hell. How about you?

Oh okay didn't know about the 8 weeks thing but it definitely puts my mind at ease because I have been refreshing track excessively.

AAA in maths, government and politics and history. Doubt that I'll get in as I am resting M1. Where are you applying/heard back from?

I have applied to Oxford, LSE, UCL, St Andrews and Edinburgh. Rejected from Oxford (but will probs reapply, if I don’t like other uni) offer from UCL, waiting for others. Gov and Econ isn’t that competitive, so maybe good PS and predicted will give you an offer.

That lists really high for AAA, don't you have a back up? Also what course in UCL? I did political economy from Kings and got an offer.

I chose courses carefully to make sure that AAA fulfills entry requirements. I was doing two schools at the same time and prepared mostly on my own, so I can’t really hope for more. In Edinburgh they require ABB.

Oh okay. Good luck.
I am literally in same position as you! Got rejected from Oxford (guessing you were E&M?) and now in theory LSE would be my first choice. Def also worried about how antisocial LSE would be as I have heard the lecturers are v unhelpful, although in general there do seem to be a lot of people worried about the lack of social life, so maybe that's a good thing? Or you could reapply to Oxford, I may do that as not sure about Warwick... straight econ too!

Lool we're literally twins. I was thinking of reapplying Oxford and taking a gap year but I'm just kinda scared about not getting in the second time. Although this thread has definitely reassured me about LSE and I'm very likely to go if I get an offer

You don’t have to take gap year to reapply to Oxford, you can do that while at LSE or any other university. I’m planning to do that, if I don’t get in the second time I won’t lose anything.

Wait really?? I might look into that then...
Do they mind that? like I know they say they don't and all but would they rather you hadn't started at another uni, and legitimately be as likely to give you an offer/shortlist as if you were taking a gap year?

Yep, I checked official Oxford website, they don’t (or officially don’t) discrimnate students coming from different universities. My only concern is being one year behind and wasting time.
