1-Find number of moles of reactant

The acid is in excess so the alcohol is the limiting factor here...
Mr butan-1-ol: 72
n = m/ mrn = 6.0 / 72 = 0.08333 mol

2-Find theoretical mass of ester produced
The alcohol and acid react in a 1 to 1 ratio
So theoretically 0.083333 mol of ester produced
Mr of ester = 130

Now find the massm = n X mrm = 0.08333 X 130 = 10.83g

3-Find the % yield(Actual Mass / Theoretical Mass) X 100
(7.4 / 10.8) X 100 = 69%
