I have been given an unconditional to study English at both Strathclyde and stirling but am unsure of which to pick. Stirling are way above Strathclyde in terms of English and their course seems to be overall better but strathclyde is regarded as a better university overall. Which one would you recommend I go to? I live in Glasgow but would be willing to get accomodation in stirling.

If it were me, I'd go for Stirling. I think the course, and how much that interests you, is the most important. You're more likely to get a better degree if you prefer what you're learning.

I'm in a really similar predicament choosing between Oxford (if I get an offer) and Nottingham for English too.
