Just bored and was tallying up monthly spendings, and found out my car's murdering me a bit! out of interest really, how much does your car cost you to run?

Car: Toyota Supra TT

Year: 1993/4

Fuel: normally get away with about £100-120 but have spent £20 a day, 3 days a week since janruary due to working in Basingstoke and Uni in Reading, so expecting £320 this month

Insurance: £460 after the cost of two months was added on over 5 months..

£780  that's over 8k a year!

Maintenance a year: probably keep about £1.5k for it, some years will be less, some may be more. Especially when you have friends who put diesel in your tank by accident!

My rover coop:

Year: 1996

Insurance: Included in above, if on it's own, probably about £190

fuel: If I was using it all the time, about £170

£360 max so around 4k annualy

Maintenance, virtually nothing as parts are cheap and majour services are well spread..

edit: forgot tax, £90 a year on both

Car: Fiat Punto (Active?)

Year: 2006

Fuel: before uni, last summer I spent about 400 pound a month on petrol driving from st.annes to manchester via preston and back every weekday (although I used to razz it a bit (well as much razzing as a fiat punto can do :p:) I've now calmed down to save some money). now at uni -depending on whether i go home for any weekends. between £20 and £100 or something. usually about £40 though.

Insurance: is 600 pound for 10 months I think.. so £60 pound a month

tax: £115 year so like a tenner ish for a month.

Maintenance a year: well service cost £160...someone recently reversed into my bumper, dislodging it from the rivet so that needs fixing. and I need an MOT this year.

Man..driving costs so much.

atm and roughly till april it will be about 300 pound a monthish BASIC cus my insurance has gone up a bit and I have to pay for my last three months 160 quid(cus I passed my test they banged the excess on ) I get about 25-30 pound petrol every week really....yeah so 300 quid(Y) lcuky I've saved up some money eh  but usually it would be about 200 quid a month so not tooooooo bad......(including petrol) but I can scrimp on petrol though...and I make sure I'm never even close to running out. 120 quid a year on tax. about 50-100 quid on MOT stuff and mantienance 200 quid if that. My mechanic is brilliant and my cars a good little girl :p:sooooo maxxxxxxxxxx 5000 but realistically 3000 and if I was really econonimical and scrimped I bet I could scrape through on 2000 :p: hehe- per year.

Car: Peugeot 206

Year: 2005

Fuel: erm, normally i put in £40 every 2 weeks. i used a bit more over xmas because i travelled to both lincoln and brighton.. so £80 a month.

Insurance: currently at £1200 due to 2 accidents in my first year of driving.. should come down to £800 when i renew the end of the month.

Tax: i think it's aorund the £80 mark but i haven't actually checked yet.

so £80 + £100 + £80 = £260 a month. WOW. expensive ****e :p:

my car (2007 peugeot 107) costs me approx £300 per month inc repayment, insurance and petrol... I work full time now and can easily afford it, but I plan to sell the car before September as I might come stuck trying to find that kind of money on a monthly basis when at Uni

Jaw, so consider you make 18k a year which is a reasonable amount. and your spending 12k a year just on cars. how do you afford to live? there are actually some people out there who make only 12k a year for everything lol

But its not my car: I only get to use it on certain week days and the weekends as dads around to take mum around.

I'd much rather have a car that was my own

:ditto: I'd say a 911 is far from a girls car.

But I would never say no.
