Is 'hey you' a flirtacious way to begin a text?

Thoughts please.

Would it be wrong to begin a text to someone who I quite like but for circumstancial reasons am not with 'hey you' , and should I read it as flirtation when someone send me a text beginning with that.

I'm personally undecided, hence I'm opening it up to all you lovely people! :smile:

I would personally say it's fairly flirtatious....it's playful at the very least. I always liked people saying it to me as a greeting, makes you feel a bit special...

I put that to my friends sometimes in my texts, doesn't mean i'm flirting with them.

I say "hey sexy" to a lot of my guy friends, just because it's more casually said for a lot of people. I'd say "hey you" is more flirtatious

I think it's pretty familiar and quite direct...not exactly flirtatious but if someone sent it to me who I didn't know very well I would be a bit like... :\
And yeah it depends who the person is and what the rest of the text says. I wouldn't say it's a good way to start a text but neither would I take too much notice of it if received.
