Second degree fees (Scotland)

Ok this is a random one that's probably been brought up somewhere before but I'm not having any luck searching for a previous discourse on this particular query so....

Most of you have probably heard of the whole pumping up of fees for second degree students that's coming in this coming September but experience dictates that Scotland's a very different case to England and Wales where I think this dictates...anyway I contacted the university I am applying to and they sounded unsure, put me on hold for about 5 minutes then came back and confirmed the fees would be £1700 per year (ie: the same as previously).

Now I should probably be reassured by this but as said they didn't sound too confident so I just thought I'd come on here and see if there's anybody else starting second degrees north of the border and what fee situation they're looking at.

If you've made it this far...thanks for reading my rant.

Yep, as far as I know the tuition fees would be £1,700 per year even if it is a second degree.

Hi Loki!

I have had the same stressful situation! I have just graduated with a BA degree and am now applying for a second degree in 2009 and the teachers at my current college have told me that I will be paying more than just the top up fees to study in England again.. (Something like £9000 a year!)

Which university in scotland did you try? I have been looking at three unis there too! I have spoken to finance departments for napier and heriot watt - they told me that I would only pay the £1700 a year too.

However, as you I am just a bit un sure of weather I can trust this because it seems that lots of Uni's haven't even heard about the fee top up. Even the student loan company wasn';t sure. The general feedback I keep getting is that the university could charge us as much as they like...

Have you had any more confirmed answers since your posted this?

feel free to email me at [email protected] as I might not recieve it through this website...

Good lcuk!!
