lol~ you have to wear them to exams? Wouldn't the massive sleeves make it kinda hard to write with (or does the massive sleeves only exist in posh over dramatised tv movies~lol)....
No, Oxford students wear gowns for exams. But they're not the full length ones you see in films - they have "commoners'" gowns which are only sort of waist length, with no sleeves, and the scholars' gowns which are longer and with sleeves, but still bearable I should think. All Cambridge undergrad gowns are three-quarter length with big-ish sleeves (not big like the BA gown though!) and the style varies between colleges, not depending on what you got in your first year exams. And we only wear ours for
true......stupid question~ i was kinda hoping that non-student (at the mo) can aswer sum questions as well (but it's just too much to ask~sob sob )

And quite clearly Clare is the best college
Sounds fun~ now i have to go to cambridge just so i can get those kool biggish sleeved gowns~ just imaging wearing them to exams and the sounds it would make when you're writing (well obiously you don't have to imaging...you've done it before~ )

Nonono, at Cambridge you don't wear gowns for exams, just normal clothes. It's Oxford that they make you dress up for. We only wear gowns for matriculation and graduation, and for formal halls. My sleeves are covered in food from last year

alright~ how dare you confuse a poor hopeful (<-gave that title to myself~)like myself~~~
Hmm~ well this is certainly a put off....now i can't swing pass a table casually during an exam and knock everything on the floor...sigh~
Oh well, i suppose in the end the long sleeves are still better than no sleeves~ at least i can swear them randomly in my room~ Still has my mind set on Cambridge even after all that! (pure determination I tell you~ )
Anyway I think the reason i'm not getting this is because I desperately need some sleep~ talk to you tomorrow night (possibly~ if i'm still alive after a day of shopping~but yay still!)
