Really worried as have had an email saying that my essay and another student are very similar (19%) but both essays were written independently so what do i say as i need to reply by friday and obviously do not want to be penalised in any way?

as long as its a first offence , you should be okay.

just explain your process and how you wrote the essay.

Just that the work was 19% similar and that we have to explain ourselves to the university via email but i have no idea what to say to make them realise it was all my own work
