How can I break the habit of looking down whilst walking?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but whenever I walk, I've found that I look down for no reason, even when there is no one there or no one to look; I've only recently become aware of this and I now have to consciously remember to look forward. It's really irritating because I've found that I miss many things around me while looking down. I now remember to look up but whenever my thoughts wonder, I realise my eyes are looking down; how can I fix this?

My siblings also have the same habit, but I'm trying to break the habit out of my youngest brother before he becomes too use to it.

Is it confidence issues ?

When I'm walking I just like to have a look around and take in all the scenery. It's a good habit to keep in, even when you're walking through a s***hole

I do it all the time cos I want to think in peace. Nothing wrong with that!

When you go out, keep focusing on not looking down and hopefully you'll eventually grow out of the habit

Huh, I do this a tonne. I first got very conscious of it as a kid, tried to keep my head up but found it super hard. When I was older, I brought it up with my mum (who did a degree specialising in childhood developmental disorders with teaching) and long story short turns out I had dyspraxia.

Maybe it is just a coincidence you and all your siblings look down at the floor while walking, but I don’t know? Could be more to it than just a habit.
