determine the internal resistor of battery practical. how to increase accuracy reliability and validity of the experiment ?

what is the experiment and how are you doing it. usually all the above mentioned things can be done by changing how you conduct the experiment or using different equipment or simply conducting more repeats.

I am using the variable resistor of (16 ohms) and measuring the volts and current of a battery (9v/6v)
will changing the variable resistor from 10 ohms to 16 ohms increase my validity? if so how?
