The Land Economists I have spoken to don't seem to give a **** about surveying, RICS or anything like that.....they just intend to get a job in the City at an IB or Law firm.

Then they are seemingly doing the wrong degree, because land economy especially after second year has little or nothing to do with economics, it very much focuses on the built environment.

Are there actually any Land Economists on TSR, or are they too busy sleeping/playing rugby? :p:

Well there's only 40 in each year (awwwwwwwwwwwww ;reindeer; ), and it would seem to be a challenge to find one that can use the internet, is literate, and would endeavour to post on an academic forum :wink:

Students are given a solid grounding in economics, including:

* microeconomics;
* macroeconomics;
* urban economics;
* finance and investment analysis;
* environmental economics.

Students also get a solid grounding in law, including:

* Public law (constitutional and administrative);
* Private law (contract, tort and company law);
* Real property law;
* Landlord and tenant;
* Environmental law;
* Land-use planning law;
* Law and economics;
* Later courses build on the law and economics foundations, and draw together the two disciplines.
* Examples include special papers on Land and Urban Economics, Law and Economics, Land-use Planning, the seminar course on Environmental Law and Economics and a Paper on Land Policy and Development Economics.

A good mix of Economics, environment and law there - can't see a problem with having a wide ranging degree!

Touché! :p:

You neglect to mention that they got in by tying their shoelaces correctly and having sports trophies. :wink:

The Land Economy letters ask you to take all your sporting trophies to interview. They then ask you to put them in some scales. The heaviest trophy collections get places. A good tip is to put lead in the bases of your trophies, give you the edge. Hot tip, can't lose! :wink:

I applied for Economics and have sports trophies - for football and Athletics.. No Cam. Offer for me though!

Land Economy is a whole different kettle of steroids!

Well hello everyone!
I have been offered a place to read Land Economy at Caius and am very much looking forward to it. I can assure you that I am fully literate and in no way participate in sport:biggrin:

I have to laugh when someone comes on here and repeatedly makes fun of Land Economy yet they are still in school and didn't even get into Oxbridge.

Laughs are what it's all about! :p:
