I received my reply from Aston University, part of the condition was if they were placed as my firm choice my entry conditions will be lowered. However i would like to place Aston as my insurance is their way of reconfiguring my conditions to also apply for being placed as my insurance or not.

Nothing to stop you putting them as insurance, then your entry condition will stay the same. The discount only happens if you firm. You cant have it both ways.
